Baby Ballerina

Noelle went to her very first dance competition today to cheer on her older cousins Ellie and Ava, and all the Larkin dancers who were competing. Just like at the dance studio, Noelle loved being at the competition. She loves the music, lights and really watches the dancers. Noelle LOVES going to the studio. We try to get there every week so that she can watch numbers and listen to the music. Today she actually got mad every time we moved somewhere she couldn't see the stage.

Her cute outfit today. :)

Making Grandma proud!

Joey and I were also so incredibly proud of our nieces today...Ellie and Ava were amazing! Ellie has always been a beautiful dancer but this year she really shines. She has developed an incredible stage presence with lots of personality and flair. She's also graceful at the same time and an amazing dancer. Definitely a ballerina. Ava was her usual funky self and rocked the stage. We couldn't have had a better time watching them. I admit, I teared up watching Ellie do her lyrical number...but then again, I always do. :)

Noelle & Ellie! Noelle just wouldn't look at the camera.

With Ava!

Ava's cute costume!

Can't wait until the day Noelle can put on her ballet shoes. ;)

How to: Make A Quick Letter Monogram

I have a habit of buying a lot of craft things when they are on sale or clearance, resulting in a whole cabinet full of miscellaneous arts and crafts stuff that I end up hoarding for years. So yesterday while Noelle was sleeping and I was bored I decided to make her one of those letter monograms for her bedroom door. It was really simple; All I used was a white wood letter, some random rhinestones, craft glue, ribbon and scrapbook flower embellishments to make this monogram. I wasn't sure if I even liked it when I was done but Joey liked it. It's now hanging on her door!

Noelle's Special Visit

We were super blessed this past week as we got an unexpected and unplanned visit from my mom! At last minute (literally the night before) with the help of Joey's step aunt Patty we were able to get my mom a flight to come see Noelle! It was a great long weekend for all of us.

Grandma Tuyet & Noelle

Joey and I got to have some time to ourselves and went on a couple of dates, which we haven't done since before Noelle was born. We also got to catch up on some much needed sleep! I even got to deep clean my house and log in some really good workouts! Joey and I were ecstatic. We wish that we could afford to keep my mom in MN as our live in (grandma + nanny) granny.

Grandma Sue came to visit my mom! Nice picture of them with Noelle!

My mom also had a wonderful weekend bonding with Noelle. She hadn't seen her since she turned 1 month old. So she was in for a shock because Noelle has changed so much since then! Noelle spent most of the weekend in my my mom's arm or playing with my mom. It was sweet. :) It turns out that my mom is also the only person that has been able to shush Noelle. One day when Noelle starting pouting and starting to turn on the tears my mom sternly said "No no! and Noelle gave her a funny, confused look but then didn't cry. That certainly doesn't work for Joey or me!

This is my favorite picture of Noelle & my mom! They were napping together! So cute.

It was a great weekend having my mom come up! Can't wait until the next!

Love Letters (1)

Dear Noelle,
I thought I would start writing you some love letters so that one day you can go back and read them and think "Wow, my mommy really does love me!" Especially on the days that I send you to your room without dessert for talking back to me.

So my darling, today you are exactly 3 months and 2 weeks old...already too big for mommy's liking. Watching you grow up is nerve wreaking for mommy right now because it's happening too fast! I feel like yesterday you were sleeping on my chest in the hospital bed (which the nurses scolded mommy for, numerous times I might add) and now you are already sleeping all by yourself in your very own room. It's bittersweet.

I'm really proud of you little one. You have been sleeping in your crib all by your little lonesome for 10 weeks now! You also lift up your head like a champion. You talk quite a bit too. Of course only in your little baby language, but it sure sounds cute! However...I have noticed you talk to daddy more than you talk to me. What's up with that? I guess mommy is going to need to train you...you are a Mama's girl. You hear me? MAMA'S GIRL. Just kidding...I know you are already a Daddy's Girl. Hmpth. I'll try to not take it personal.

Speaking of your daddy...wow do you have him wrapped around your finger little girl. He is such a sucker. Tell me, what is your secret??? Why is it that you can give your daddy one look and he flocks to you? He loves you so much. Remember that when he accidentally yells at you. He may slip now and then. He's been known to have a bit of a temper.

But so do you. Good lord child, you can scream when things don't go your way! When you want your bottle, you want it NOW! When you are tried, you want to sleep NOW! When you want to leave Target, you let me know! You also let everyone else in the store know too. One day a few weeks ago we went to Target and you scared everyone we walked by. You also made a bunch of people ask mommy "Is she okay?" It was a hard day for mommy. I almost sent you to live with your grandma in Texas. JUST KIDDING!!

I love you, you little devil you. I wish I could go on and on and on, but this letter would start to get really boring. Plus, I'm sure there will be more letters to come where I dote on you endlessly. I love you bugaboo.

Thanks for being mine.
Love, Mommy

Family Update - 3 Months

It has been a while since I updated on the Wagner crew but it's been a busy month, as always! We can barely believe it...Noelle is now a whole 3 months old! Let's catch up on the last month...

Noelle was diagnosed with acid reflux and is now on Zantac. We were really excited about the Zantac because we thought that it would be the answer to our prayers, but while we are seeing an improvement in the number of spit ups that she has and the amount of crying she does...she is still a colicky baby and has intense crying spells where she has piercing scream attacks. Now that we have exhausted all our resources (switched to the most sensitive formula, tried Gripe water, tried gas drops, gone to a chiropractior for adjustments, taken Zantac) and she is still extremely fussy we have come to the conclusion that there is probably nothing on earth that can help this colic. Only time will solve it for us, which somedays is really sad to accept. I won't lie, I have a hard time with it sometimes because in all honesty I never thought I would have a colicky baby. Most days between Joey and I, we handle just fine with her colic but somedays I don't know what to do when she randomly explodes into a screaming fit at the top of her lungs, tears streaming down her face and there is not one thing that I can do to calm her down. We heard repeatedly from a gazillion people that 3 is the magic number and at 3 months colic goes away and babies start sleeping through the night. I guess only time will tell because we are certainly not there yet!

But of course, we adore our little booger so much. She cracks us up all the time with her scowls, toots (she seriously is one gassy child), and random smirks. She also answers to "Boogs" now, which is what I call her, so that always makes me laugh. She also stares at the TV so much that we have limited her time in the living room in fear that all her brain cells will be fried by the time she is a year old. So I guess between the tears there is laughter too. :)

More fun stuff: She and I started going to an ECFE (Early Childhood & Family Education) class every Thursday morning at the Snail Lake Education Center here in town and it is awesome. I get to chat with other moms with babies the same age as Noelle and we sing to our babies, read to them, and play with them. It's amazing and the center has an incredible Resource center where we can borrow toys, books and DVDs. I think my favorite part of the class is that when Noelle bursts into tears, no one cares. I certainly don't take that for granted!

Noelle's First Hockey Game

Joey and I are finally getting into a routine with Noelle and have started to go back to something closer to our previous lifestyle. I've resumed by Masters program at Saint Mary's which was tough but also exciting to do. I was a little reluctant to leave Noelle for long stretches of time (my classes are 4 hours long each!) but am glad that I've continued. The classes are going great and every time I'm at school I know that teaching is where my heart is. As of right now I have 6 classes left. Yippee!! I've also lost 10 pounds from doing the Paleo diet that I discussed in an earlier post, and only have 10 more to go before I reach my pre-pregnancy weight! (Although I'd like to lose 15!) Another Yippee!!

Bottle Time with Jessie, Will, Zoe & Noelle!

I'm not the only one who is starting to get my life back; Joey has resumed his weekly band practices in Somerset, which gives him a great break, an outlet and also a time to hang out with his bandmates/friends. Noelle and I even joined him one night and I can seriously say that she enjoys listening to the band play. She also has a natural liking to the drums, which of course pleases Joey. Sometimes he will play the drums with Noelle on his lap and she takes it all in. We are convinced that she will be musical.

Last month we had no idea what we were doing with Noelle on a daily basis. Each day was a new ride and we were lost. Having established a routine since then is nice...Noelle and I don't live on a schedule but there's enough structure that Noelle can predict what our next move is, and we can predict what hers is as well. I can't claim that each day is the same, there are some days where she does cry a lot, but on most days we know what to anticipate. We are over the moon in love with our little monster and even though she brings terror into our lives (kidding, kidding) we couldn't imagine our lives without her now.

Here's to another month!
More later,
Diana
