Maternity Pictures!

We are now on week 37, which means the baby is officially "full term" and could come out and survive successfully on her own! And she definitely wants out! Each night she tosses and turns just as bad as her mother and sometimes it feels like she is trying to dig her way out! I'm uncomfortable but I am completely content with my situation. I am no longer begging her to come early as I now realize I have less than 3 weeks left, and 3 weeks is nothing! My mom is also coming to MN next Saturday to stay with us for a month, so it would break our hearts if the baby came before her grandma gets here!

We have no major news as of now however we did get some fun maternity pictures taken by my friend Jessie and thought we would share them!

5 Weeks...Or Less?!

35 Weeks
I finally I had my much awaited for 35 week appointment with my midwife on Friday and all systems are a go! I am already dilated to 1 centimeter, the baby is upside down and already settled low in my pelvis. My midwife actually felt my baby's head with the tip of her finger! That made for an exciting, terrifying and slightly gross experience.

More interesting news? Baby Wagner is already measuring at 6.5 pounds which is a pound more than the "average" baby at 35 weeks, with an estimated arrival weight of 7.5 to 8 pounds! What a chunker! At my baby shower we had all the guests write down their guess of the baby's arrival date, weight and length. Many guests thought I was going to have a wee little baby, many guessing around 6 pounds and some ounces up to 7 pounds. Well, all those people are already wrong! My baby has already surpassed 6 pounds and is on her way to becoming a plump baby. Must of been all those Oreos.

Although that was fun news, the best news of the appointment was that because I am already dilating and having contractions on a daily basis, my midwife said there was no way I was going to be overdue or need to be induced! Hallelujah! Although she said she could not promise me that Baby Wagner was going to be early, she said she could promise that she wouldn't go over her due date of November 18th! This makes mama and daddy very, very happy.

In preparation (as if we are not already, totally prepared-we even have safety plugs in all our outlets for goodness sake), I have started my Hypnobirthing studies/exercises. So far I'm not sure if they are going to work for me! I've always wanted to have the most natural birth I could have, but these exercises do little to ease my contractions now (which are mild) so how are they going to help me later when the contractions are deathly?! All I can do is practice the breathing and visualizing exercises and go into this without fear. Luckily so far throughout this pregnancy I have had no true fear of labor or delivering my baby. I figure that woman are suppose to do this, this is what our bodies were designed for, and I also believe if my mother could do it and my grandmother could do it (with 7 kids at that!) I can certainly do it too. My midwife is behind me 100% no matter what I decide and so far we still are thinking water birth. If Gwyneth Paltrow can do a water birth, so can I...I think. We will see.

Here's to 5 more weeks...or less!?
More later,

Baby Update - 34 Weeks

I have a little less than 6 weeks left and I cannot explain how this feels besides saying that I am extremely anxious. Sometimes I feel as if 6 weeks is not enough time for me to mentally and physically prepare for her arrival, get all her things together and washed, yet sometimes I feel as if I won’t make it through these long 6 weeks without ripping my skin off.

I’m having cramps that wake me up at night and keep me in bed for majority of the day, pelvis pressure that makes simple tasks such as standing difficult, and lower back pain that makes me want to ask someone to repeatedly pelt my back with rocks. As the end of this pregnancy nears, so does my patience. I have a new appreciation, understanding and empathy for other pregnant women and mothers and I give a lot of credit to women who have multiple children. You are crazy!

My midwife is out of the office for the next week so my 34 week appointment was canceled, making me even more anxious. I can’t wait to know what my condition is and if there’s any slight chance I may be dilating yet. She has told me before that my chances of delivering early were slim but I still am holding onto some ounce of hope! Please baby, give mama a break.

I'm currently done nannying and I’ve been working hard on finishing my classes for the semester and working at Joey’s mom’s dry cleaners. I'm kicking myself a little bit for signing up for classes that don't end until the week I am due, but since it's too late to withdraw from the class, I just have to bite the bullet and get it done! The one thing that I’ve been glad to have time to do is getting the baby’s room ready. I went through all her socks, shoes, bibs, hats and so forth and got them all sorted and into the appropriate bins. I also finally started washing some of her things, mainly all her blankets, sleepers, sheets and covers. I was pretty nervous cutting off the tags as we only had one ultrasound, and if for some reason this baby comes out a boy, we are in trouble. But going with it, I did wash all her pink belongings!

A glimpse into her/my closet.

I also was able to do some returning and exchanging and finally got her changing pad for the changing table and also organized a basket of newborn diapers. With less than 2 months left I need to finish off the shopping list with some other baby essentials such as itty bitty nail clippers, files, mittens, more diapers and etc.

Joey and I were in very "nesting mode" today as we cleaned the house top to bottom and also put together all her "big" items.

Daddy setting up the stroller than we got from Grandma Sue.

Voila! End result! (With her infant seat nestled in it.)

Putting together the high chair from Grandma Michele.

End result!

Assembling her stationary entertainment center from my friend Donna.

Beautiful!

Here's to 40 more days! Now taking bets on when Baby Wagner will arrive!

Baby Shower #2!

This past weekend I was blessed with a wonderful baby shower hosted by my sister in laws, Staci, Susan, Erin and Heather. It was beautiful and themed asian to remind me of my mom who couldn't be there. It was really sweet and turned out really nice! We had Leann Chin's, cupcakes and icing dipped fortune cookies.

Erin's diaper cake! :)

The pretty orchids that were used as centerpieces as well as prizes for the games.

There were some cute games, including one where everyone brought in pictures of themselves as babies and we had to guess who was who.

It was a great shower and the baby and I received a lot of nice things. I'm pretty excited now that I can go out and finish off all the shopping needs and start getting baby's things ready for the big arrival. Only 7 more weeks! :)

More pictures from the shower:
